Restaurant Review - Kafe Leopold

Kafe Leopold
3318 M Street Northwest
Washington D.C., DC 20007
(202) 965-6005

If you travel off of bustling M Street and wander through Cady’s Alley you will be magically transported far, far away. Leave DC and all your cares behind with just a few steps down the far-side staircase, where a charming courtyard awaits you. Greeted by the subtle sounds of a fountain and beautiful sights of Sunday Brunch you feel you’ve come across a secret European neighborhood. Gone are the popped collars, pearls and pastel pants that overpopulate the Georgetown dining scene. All that’s left is the Austrian-inspired, urban-oasis, Kafe Leopold.

As you settle in for your meal, the courtyard and cafĂ© calmly buzz with conversations from other cool costumers. You can’t help but to think to yourself, ‘there is no other place I want to be right now’. The stylish surroundings, smiling servers, and mouth-watering menu items all create quite the combination for the types of clientele.

When you finally open the menu nothing, but pure and fresh dishes pop out and grab you. A great rule of thumb for balanced eating is to always start with something green. The first thing that caught my eye was the Gurkensalat. Not only traditional to Austria, but its paper-thin sliced cucumbers and radishes, fresh dill, walnuts, and honey made eating veggies more of a celebration than a chore.

For the next course, always include a lean protein source to increase fullness and help repair of your muscle tissue. Choose the soft scramble eggs with pea shoots and tomatoes, but stay mellow when your eggs show up yellow. Actually keeping that yolk in your eggs helps your body regulate growth and repair hormones. The eggs were cooked just right, making them seem like light glowing clouds.

It isn’t brunch without something sweet and I didn’t even have to hesitate in ordering the Elderflower-Saffron Pears & Greek Yogurt. This healthy snack disguised as a velvety, citrus-infused, pistachio crunch-topped treat, is sent straight from health heaven. But it tastes so good you think you are sinning!

There is no question that you will love the picture perfect setting and dining experience at Kafe Leopold. The only doubt is if you are willing to go back to your Washingtonian reality after your meal is over. Don’t worry, you can always come back again and again for an escape from the ordinary!

The diet solution said...

I think fresh dishes are really good for the health. Like for example the veggies, you will be able to savor the juice when it's fresh. I am looking for the best diet solution that would essentially make my body healthy and physically fit. I hope that you will provide some menus that will be best for a diet solution.
